Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS), Philadelphia, PA
BACKGROUND
Over the past twelve years, we’ve had the privilege of working with CLS, a local non-profit organization that provides free legal services, in civil matters, to low-income Philadelphians. Providing equal access to justice is their daily mission. It is also a theme that has united several of their fundraising initiatives for which they needed graphic marks.
THE MARKS
• Stand Up For Justice is CLS’ first-ever capital campaign with a goal of building a Law Center at Broad and Erie Streets in Philadelphia. To make that happen, board members, staff, the legal and business communities, the Commonwealth, and city residents were encouraged to come together in support of this vital resource. The mark represents that grassroots effort where different parts are assembled to make the vision possible. A hopeful and bright color palette expresses the joy of the project and the excitement for this long-planned dream.
• Justice For All! is CLS’ annual 5K (walk or run) race. Proceeds benefit CLS so that each year they can assist over 12,000 of Philadelphia’s poorest residents with their legal problems. We saw an opportunity in the name to highlight what we feel is the most meaningful, and perhaps overlooked, part of America’s Pledge of Allegiance. Justice is for ALL of us, not just the few. We created a visual play on words to serve as a reminder that taking a stand for justice means seeing US ALL in that effort. The 5th annual Justice For All! 5K will be held on October 12, 2014. You can show your support by registering today.
• CLS Breakfast of Champions is a yearly event designed to thank and recognize attorneys, law firms and foundations for their partnership in helping CLS achieve their mission. Through volunteer services and financial support, these champions have helped to assure equal access to justice for all. When asked to create this mark we envisioned these champions raising the American flag, in a united expression of triumph.

Special thanks to our 2014 summer intern, Nick Greenawalt, who created the animation for each logo here. He made the Liberty bell ring out and in step to the words! He also made our Stand Up For Justice mark really stand up.
