Monday Marks: #10
CLIENT
Kaizen InfoSource, Palo Alto, CA
CREATIVE BRIEF
Create a corporate identity for a startup information governance and information technology consultancy that has quickly earned national and internationalprominence. “Kaizen” is an eastern management philosophy meaning continuous improvement. Kaizen InfoSource believes a project is never complete. There is always an opportunity to improve. This sense of motion should be integral to the identity. It should be current and sophisticated—one that represents commitment, expertise and strength. The end result should be eye-catching and distinctive.
DESIGN RESPONSE
Improvement, dynamism, and progress were the key concepts that inspired our initial design investigation. That process yielded a dynamic mark that loosely illustrates the letter “K” for “Kaizen.” It is executed with sophisticated thick-to-thin calligraphic strokes referencing the Japanese origin of the company’s name and philosophy. The mark can also be seen as a spark originating from a single source as well as the embodiment of the three founding partners coming together. The “K” rests atop the bold, no-nonsense type treatment for the company name, which emphasizes the word “KAIZEN” and clearly displays their invented and self-explanatory descriptor “infosource”. The graphic mark can be used as a stand-alone signifier of the company on collateral materials, provided that the full logo appears somewhere on each piece.
